Bangalore’s garden-themed Terminal 2 has left the Internet awe-struck. With hanging gardens, manmade waterfalls, vertical gardens, a 5G network, solar panels, green seating areas and whatnot, the Garden terminal is much sought-after on social media. Joining the swanky airport bandwagon is Chennai International Airport which now has a Golden Terminal with a Midas touch. Here’s all about it.

Chennai Airport Shares Pics Of The New Golden Terminal

Chennai Airport recently tweeted pictures of the new Integrated Terminal Building. Sharing updates about the same, the terminal has a golden finish with aluminium composite panels (ACP) installed in the departure kerb area offering a grand entry to passengers walking into the airport. In the pictures, you can see stunning grandiose golden pillars with finished columns and stainless steel champagne strips.

The golden finish in the terminal adds a layer of regal and grandiosity to the airport. The airport officials wrote while sharing the images that the gold finish in the terminal is all about opulence and magnificence. While the first phase of the construction of the Chennai International Airport’s new terminal is almost nearing completion, the next phase shall start soon. The new terminal at Chennai Airport will improve the passenger handling facility at the airport and reduce passenger traffic. The airport has a beautiful blend of traditional Tamil Nadu and modern designs.

Designs Inspired By The Folds Of A Saree

The pictures of the new terminal are already garnering a great response on social media. The illuminated golden lights, palm trees and golden panels make the terminal a sight to behold. Interestingly, the design of the Chennai Airport New Integrated Terminal is inspired by the sarees of Tamil Nadu. The saree is the ultimate symbol of grace. So, the texture of the saree, a major element of the traditional Bharatanatyam dance has been incorporated into the designs of the new terminal. The false ceiling on the roof has a distinctive pattern of the folds of a saree.
