Imagine driving on a road painted like a Chess Board, sounds weird but fun right? Well, you might get the chance to drive on one if you visit Chennai now. It’s no secret that the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022 will be hosted by India. And Chennai is all set to hold the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Mahabalipuram on July 28. Ahead of the event, the Napier Bridge has been painted like a chess board. And a video of the same has cropped up on the Internet. FIDE Chess Olympiad is the world’s biggest chess event. No doubt Chennai is coming up with quirky ideas to promote the event!

Video Of Napier Bridge Decked Up Like A Chess Board Goes Viral

IAS officer Supriya Sahu recently took to Twitter to share an interesting video. The video shows Napier Bridge being painted like a Chess Board. The video is taken from inside the car and the IAS officer captions it with, “Chennai, the Chess Capital of India, is all set to host the grand Chess Olympiad 2022. The iconic Napier Bridge is decked up like a chess board.” If you watch the video you will see the bridge being decked up in black and white boxes and exactly resembles a chess board. Must say, whoever is behind the creation, is a genius! But the viral video has mixed reactions from the public. Some really appreciate the design but a lot of others have stated how driving on the road might be dangerous. Well, if you look at the video, it does make you a little uncomfortable and might even give you a vision issue. So the mixed reactions are understandable.

More About The 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad

The 44th Chess Olympiad is organised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs. The event comprises open and women’s tournaments along with several other events. The Olympiad and its events are basically designed to promote the game of chess. This year, the 44th Chess Olympiad will be held in Chennai, India. On Friday, Rajinikanth released the teaser for the Olympiad. The painting of the Napier Bridge like a chess board followed soon after the release. Chennai is really trying hard to make the event a success. From the teaser to the chess board designs on bridges, the city’s efforts are truly commendable!
