CSMT-Chennai Express Is Longer Than The Platform. Passengers Face Trouble Getting In!

Ever imagined what will happen if a train is way longer than the scheduled platform? How will it halt at that shorter station and how will the passengers board or get down of it? It is a real problem and this has been happening since about 2 weeks. For the past some days, the passengers on CSMT-Chennai Express (Train No. 22157) are facing some problems at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus as the train is longer than the designated platform.

Prateek S. Mishra, an activist talked about the problem of the commuters travelling on this train. According to a report by Mid-Day, the activist shared how the CSMT-Chennai Express is not halting properly, instead, the train is going further the platform. The journey of this train begins from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus’ platform 9. And now it is being seen that a coach of this train is halting out of the platform.

It is very much understandable that the passengers on the train coach getting halted beyond the problem are facing so many issues in getting inside or down of the train. The worst part is that this coach is reserved for disabled passengers. The trouble is increasing more every day with more disabled commuters struggling to catch the train. Prateek S. Mishra stated that it is now urgent to change the platform for the CSMT-Chennai Express train.

Anyone would find it so hard to get inside a train that is standing beyond the platform. And the difficulty increases much more when someone with physical disabilities needs to do the same.

According to the Mid-day report, a spokesperson of the Central Railway stated that the project for lengthening the platforms has started. The construction is going to be completed in several phases and the new platforms will be able to allow trains with 24 coaches to halt without any issues.
