1. Vile Parle To Be Shut From April 11

Vile Parle’s Captain Vinayak Gore Road Overbridge will remain closed from April 11 to April 26. Reports mentioned that the bridge would be closed on these days between 1am and 4am. A team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay assessed the bridge as part of a safety audit, according to Western Railway. Hence, the bridge will be shut for repair. 

2. Madh-Marve Film Studios Demolished By BMC

After the National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued a judgement declaring the Madh-Marve film studios illegal, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) began dismantling them on Friday. These studios constructed permanent structures rather than temporary ones and misused the permissions. 

3. Mumbai Records Over 200 COVID-19 Cases For The Fourth Day In A Row

Mumbai recorded 276 COVID-19 cases on Friday, the fourth day in a row with more than 200 new cases. The number of infections increased by 60 from the day before, but according to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, there have been no known virus-related fatalities. The death toll is at 19,749, while the number of cases rose to 11,58,460. 

4. MMRDA Completes Chheda Nagar Junction Flyover

The Chheda Nagar Junction flyover has been built by MMRDA, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The wider Chheda Nagar Junction Traffic Improvement Plan, of which the flyover is a part, was designed to lessen traffic congestion in the area and has been in development since July 2018. The flyover now awaits inauguration. 

5. Navi Mumbai’s Palm Beach Road Project Finally Will Be Extended

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has obtained the essential permits to extend the Palm Beach Road project. It will now be finally extended to the Airoli-Mulund Creek Bridge after many delays. In 2004, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) planned the 21.12-km-long Palm Beach Road project. It will run from Belapur to Airoli sector 10A. 

6. IAS Officer Posts Picture And Slams Go First Airways

Sonal Goel, an IAS officer, criticised Go First Airways for its “pathetic handling of flight operations” after her flight on Friday night was nearly two hours late. She posted a photo of passengers who were made to sit on the plane for almost two hours without access to food, including little children and senior citizens. The passengers were later informed that the captain went off to another flight. 

7. Mumbai Ranks On The List Of Cities With The World’s Best Public Transport

London based ‘Time Out’ conducted a survey and came up with a list of cities that have the best public transport in the world. Mumbai ranked 19th overall among the cities with the best public transportation in the world. The survey said that millions of people in Mumbai travel by bus, rickshaw, metro, taxi, and train.
