With a new tourist ambassador known for his reliable right foot, Qatar is embracing all things football as it prepares to host the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 in just over 12 weeks. David Beckham is the face of Qatar Tourism’s latest travel advertisement, in which he interacts with pearl divers, visit historic spice markets, and investigates Doha’s art scene. David Beckham Learns About the Culture of Qatar

During his 48-hour, action-packed trip to the Gulf state, the English football player interacts with local celebrities. First, Saad Ismail Al Jassim, one of Qatar’s last remaining pearl divers, teaches him more about the nation’s customs. Then, he and Mexican chef Aquiles Chavez prepare some tacos with Qatari flavours.

Additionally, Beckham visits Khor Al Adaid’s nearby desert to see expert falcon trainers in action and eats a traditional Qatari dinner beside a campfire. Then, with the help of Qatari motorcycle champion Saeed Al Sulaiti, he picks up the pace with a tour of The Pearl Qatar on a motorcycle. Beckham joins Qatari player Noora Nasser for a kickabout game at Katara Amphitheatre.
