Delhi Pollution: Delhiites! Get Your Masks Out As AQI Might Enter ‘Severe’ Category TODAY!

Breathe of fresh air something that people of Delhi NCR can only dream of. The air quality entered ‘poor’ category on Wednesday and since the it has been getting worse. The drop in the Air Quality Index (AQI) is so bad that it is expected to enter the ‘severe’ category today.

What’s More

As per reports, the AQI is dropping because of ‘calm winds and increased farm fires’. Despite the Supreme Court ruling, and constant warnings against constructions, stubble burning and demolitions, it seems like not much has been done in order to regulate this.

However, it isn’t the whole of Delhi NCR that’s facing this problem. Yes, the AQI is quite poor throughout, but Noida is in a far worse condition than Delhi and Gurgaon. As per reports, Ghaziabad recorded the poorest AQI in the area at 366, then Greater Noida at 340 and Noida at 320. The AQI in Gurgaon was recorded at 221.

Is It Expected To Get Better?

The warning was flagged off by SAFAR, which is the government’s air quality monitoring and forecasting service. They also reported that post Saturday, the conditions are expected to get better, but we rally can’t pin any hopes on that. As per the Met Department certain western disturbances might cause rain or strong winds in certain parts of the Capital, that might lead to drop in AQI.
