1. Very Poor Air Quality Index

The air quality index of Delhi is now the talk of the town. Delhi has been experiencing horrible air quality for some time now. The latest updates by SAFAR India state that the city’s AQI is in a very poor category. The AQI is at 336, according to the morning reports of Wednesday.

  • Pusa area recorded an AQI of 311 at around 7 AM today, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
  • Reported at the same time, AQI at the IIT Delhi area was 329.
  • AQI of the Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport was 339.
  • Mathura Road recorded an AQI of 362.
  • Delhi University region’s AQI was 391.

2. Specific Vehicles To Ply From November

Some important steps have been taken in an attempt to improve the air quality index of the city. According to a recent development, BS-VI-compliant diesel buses, CNG buses, and electric buses are allowed to run from Delhi to the NCR area and vice versa. The Commission for Air Quality Management stated that these buses are all set to start providing facilities from November 1, according to a report by LiveMint. In addition to this, buses that will run between Delhi and non-NCR regions of Rajasthan also need to be BS-VI-compliant diesel buses, CNG buses, and electric buses. This rule will come into action starting from January 1, 2024.

3. Some Old Diesel Buses Cannot Enter Delhi

Not all the old diesel buses from nearby towns of the NCR area are allowed to transport in Delhi, starting from November 1, 2023. Buses that do not verify the BS6 emission regulations cannot enter Delhi. This is an important step of the Commission for Air Quality Management. A total of 78 teams are standing at the inter-state bus terminus and the border points of Delhi to take a look at this, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

4. Delhi HC Stated About Enforcing Ban On Slow-Moving Vehicles On Expressways

The Delhi High Court recently advised the traffic department to enforce a ban on any slow-moving vehicles running on the expressways. This rule becomes more crucial within the city.

5. Meat Shops Are Not Allowed Within A Distance Of 150 Metre From Religious Places

MCD House recently approved the proposal of a new policy for licenses of meat shops. The policy mentioned maintaining a distance of at least 150 metres between a meat shop and a religious site in Delhi. Keeping the distance between meat shops and any temple, gurudwara, mosque, or any religious place to worship is to be followed.
