Delhiites! When was the last time y’all went to Sarojini Nagar or Janpath to pick up all that your heart craves for at throwaway prices? Those hawkings and haggles, those regrets after over-shopping, those kulche eating sessions right after shopping, remembering them altogether seems so satisfactory, ain’t so? If you had been missing this feeling all throughout lockdown, then here’s a piece of good news. Guys, these iconic shopping destinations have opened up all over again, but yes, with social distancing norms. Scroll down for the deets.
Popular shopping joints of the Capital like the Sarojini Nagar Market, Connaught Place, Khan Market, Karol Bagh Market and more have finally started operating after a gap of about two months. However, as per the orders of the Delhi government, the shops in these places will be allowed to operate only on an odd-even basis. In other words, only half of the shops will remain open on a particular day, the other half will open on the next day.
This was declared as a part of the fresh set of guidelines issued by the Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal for the lockdown period extended till 31st May 2020. Markets that used to be highly congested, like Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar, will continue to remain closed.

While the shops are allowed to operate, the shopkeepers will have to strictly follow the guidelines of social distancing. They will have to ensure that there’s no crowd build-up within or outside their stores. Their customers must maintain safe distances from each other. It is mandatory for all the sellers and buyers to wear face masks. If the shopkeepers fail to adhere to these rules, their shops will be immediately closed down by the authorities, as per the CM’s guidelines.
We know that this news is too good for you shopaholics to contain the excitement. However, also keep in mind that the curve of the coronavirus isn’t flattened yet. So, if you step out, you need to be extra careful. Also, if you have a specific shop to visit, do call up the guys out there before leaving to avoid hassles.
