Dubai Man Breaks The Guinness World Record For Crossing The UAE On Foot In 7 Days

A Dubai man has broken the Guinness World Record after walking across the seven emirates in the UAE in just seven days. Sean Burgess was the first to take up a challenge of this kind and smash it too. He walked and ran for up to 20 hours each day as he tackled 650km of hot, sandy terrain. He now holds the Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest Crossing of the United Arab Emirates on foot’. Here’s how he did it!

Putting your name on the Guinness World Record is a proud moment for anyone, but Sean’s motive behind this is enviable. Sean walked the walk to raise money through Gulf For Good for a Ugandan charity looking out for people of determination in some of the country’s poorest areas. And he’s so far raised over $10,000, with more coming in. And you can donate here.

Sean started off his challenge in Al Ghuwaifat which borders the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He then took the E11 road through Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman to Umm Al Quwain. While he did the challenge all by himself, Sean also garnered a huge support network to keep him safe while he was walking across the UAE.

The seven days walk “required the coordination, feeding and fueling of up to 20 people across multiple disciplines (film, transport, medical, support, etc), 7-8 support vehicles, establishing dozens of camps and checkpoints, and negotiating with government entities to ensure I was protected on the roads at all times. To make this whole thing success is incredible, but doing so on a charity event budget is nothing short of a miracle.”
