According to travel monitoring company Forward Keys, airline reservations to Qatar from the UAE and nine other nations have increased ten-fold since the outbreak began. Moreover, they have multiplied 103 times from the UAE as compared to 2016, the final year before the UAE joined other Arab nations in a boycott of Qatar, which resulted in the suspension of direct flights. Early in 2021, the boycott came to an end.

With airline reservations to the area 16% ahead of 2019, air travel across the Gulf expects to get the benefit. According to Qatar’s Globe Cup organisers, FIFA, the governing body of soccer in the world, has reserved 80% of the rooms available for players, visitors, and officials throughout the competition. Over the following weeks, FIFA is foreseeing releasing rooms onto the market that they won’t need.
