Winter season in India especially in the northern part of the country is defined by intense fog that often makes it impossible for flights to take off on time. As a result, airport authorities in the nation are often left grappling with flight delays and cancellations resulting in a large amount of traffic on the runway. As a result, people who have been planning to travel to India from the UAE have also been affected.

Several residents from the UAE who had plans to travel to the country during the winter season, are facing flight cancellations and even delays caused by intense fog. As a result, there are quite a high number of flight cancellations across the country with New Delhi’s, Indira Gandhi International Airport being the worst affected. Yes, several flights have been delayed, with as many as 150 flights to and within India having already been cancelled or delayed in the last two days. In fact, this detail was revealed in a report by Khaleej Times.

New Delhi airport as mentioned previously, is among the worst affected and as a result, it is also affecting several flights within the country as well. The reason for this is that many domestic flights connect from the airport in the capital city! For those who aren’t aware, India is currently reeling from unprecedented fog conditions, which has resulted in very low visibility. In fact, many passengers have also taken to social media to express their distress with the situation. However, it’s worth noting that airlines are cooperating with travellers as many or rebooking flights to other destinations in the country, so that they can take reconnecting flights.

India Is Not The Only Affected Country

At this point, it is worth mentioning that this isn’t just restricted to India, recently, Mauritius has also been affected due to the cyclone Belal. As a result, an Emirates flight to the country was delayed by 27 hours and several flights had to be diverted. In fact, other local carriers had also cancelled and delayed their flights.
