Rising Aviation Accidents

The recent plane crash in Illinois marks the latest in a growing number of aviation accidents across the United States. In 2022 alone, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported over 1,300 such incidents, resulting in more than 350 fatalities. A significant number of these accidents were attributed to pilot error, poor judgment in adverse weather conditions, or collisions with obstacles such as trees and power lines.
One of the most recent incidents involved a tragic tourist helicopter crash in New York City. Just days ago, a helicopter carrying a family visiting from Spain crashed into the Hudson River, killing all six people on board. Footage of the accident showed the aircraft spinning out of control before plunging into the water, notably missing both its tail rotor and a main rotor blade.
