France attracts globetrotters to explore scenic destinations throughout the year. Apart from pristine beaches and rich culture, one of the prominent presentations of this European country is its exquisite architecture, famous globally. In a shocking accident, a fire broke out at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Rouen. Eruption of blaze and flames were reported in the spire of this famous cathedral on Thursday.

Fire Broke Out In Spire Of Notre Dame Cathedral

Netizens took to social media platforms to share videos of the accident reported at this cathedral in France. Visuals making rounds on the Internet look quite frightening. Here are some videos of the incident shared by X users.

It was on Thursday morning when the spire of Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire in the French city. According to videos on social media, thick layers of smoke were coming out of the church’s top. This cathedral is not only well-known among locals and tourists but holds a major significance as well. It beautifully represents the famous medieval architecture.

Following the astonishing fire eruption, employees working at the renovation site tried to douse it. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain. Next, they contacted the departmental fire service to control frightening flames and unexpected situations reported at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Rouen. According to a report by NDTV, about 70 firefighters rushed to the place. It took till 5 PM (local time) to manage the mishaps, control the fire, douse flames, and finally extinguish the blaze.

The fire service later stated that there wasn’t any massive damage or casualties found at this cathedral in Rouen. Also, the beautiful art pieces installed inside the church were saved. Sadly, three workers who attempted to douse the fire fell sick. Heat erupting due to the blazes triggered their health concerns and caused them to suffer from smoke inhalation.

How Did The Cathedral Catch Fire?

Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, City Mayor, stated that the exact reason for the fire is unknown. According to a report by India Today, flames broke out during the restoration process at the cathedral in the French city of Rouen. Also, a part of the sheeting used in securing the renovated parts broke out in flames.
