Twitter Blue, A Premium Service

Twitter had already announced that it would take away the verification from users if they did not follow the Twitter Verified Organisations plan or subscribe to Twitter Blue.

The microblogging site launched blue ticks to distinguish between real and fake accounts of celebrities, athletes, chefs, politicians, and other prominent personalities. This helped in tackling the false, parody, and imposter accounts and impersonations on the site. There were no charges levied for the generation of blue ticks.

Within two weeks of the company’s acquisition last year, Elon Musk introduced Twitter Blue, a premium service that included the check-mark badge as one of the rewards.

The main way to get a blue tick is to sign up for Twitter Blue, which costs £8 per month for the UK, according to a tweet from Twitter Verified. It announced the removal of legacy verified checkmarks from the website on April 20.
