Vikas Khanna recently took to Instagram to share a photo flaunting his fit and healthy physique, along with a note about his wellness journey. “For years I thought food was only my profession. Now I understand — it is my balance. Thanks to Ayurveda,” he wrote in the caption, revealing the philosophy behind his fitness.

“Living between time zones, intense projects, flights, late services, early shoots, and long creative nights, the body slowly forgets where morning begins and where night ends. Fatigue first appears in the body, but it quietly enters the mind. You lose clarity, patience, and even gratitude. I realised I wasn’t tired because of work — I was tired because my rhythm was broken,” he elaborated.

Between all this, he shared that his diet became his “anchor.” Instead of treating it as an indulgence, Chef Khanna began viewing it as a way to align his physical and mental well-being. For him, food is no longer just about sustaining his work, it’s also about sustaining his peace.

Here’s What He Changed In His Diet

So, what does Chef Vikas Khanna’s diet look like? Well, it’s quite simple. “Warm water before sunrise, simple meals, less gluten, less sugar, less excess, more seasonal produce, early dinners whenever possible. When I eat according to the sun rather than the clock, my mind becomes calmer. My thoughts are clearer. My reactions are gentler,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of physical and mental health and said they indeed go hand in hand. “The gut carries memory, mood, and energy. A restless stomach creates a restless mind. A nourished body creates emotional stability,” he elaborated.

Seeing how he has to travel so often and between continents, he shared that jet lag is not only about sleep but also about digestion. “When I help my body recognise time through food, light, and routine, I help my mind find stillness again. I am still learning. I still fail many days. But now I understand that discipline in diet is not restriction — it is self-respect,” he wisely shared.
