Goa CM Announces No COVID Related Restrictions Till 2nd January

But here is some news that will surely make you smile. Goa CM Pramod Sawant announced that the state will not be levying any COVID-related restrictions until January 2, 2023. No COVID Restrictions As Announced By Goa CM

Goa’s CM announced that there will be no restrictions until January 2, but the situation will be reviewed on January 3. This announcement came after a high-level meeting was chaired regarding the possibility of the fourth wave. Sawant has urged everyone not to panic and to take the necessary precautions. 

He said that random checking of international passengers has already begun at the state’s airports. On December 27, a mock drill will be held to assess readiness to deal with the virus outbreak. He assured that the infrastructure of the state is ready to face the situation, God forbid, if it arises.

Celebrations In A Responsible Manner

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Union government has asked the states to be alert about the virus and its spread. He asked the people to take care of themselves and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour if they step into large gatherings. The only requirement is that people act responsibly. 

Goa, being the hub of Christmas and New Year celebrations, is expecting a huge inflow of tourists. Hence, the government has asked the citizens to make sure that they enjoy the celebrations in a responsible manner. After testing 487 samples, Goa reported one case of COVID on Friday with a case positivity rate of 0.2%. In the state, there are 15 active cases right now.
