History Behind Olympia Coffee House

Olympia Coffee House was opened up in 1918 by Syed Mohammed Merab, an Irani businessman, who then sold 50% of the stakes to three of his then employees Abdul Rahim Suleiman, Abdul Rahim Choudhary and Wali Mohammed when he returned to Iran. In the late 80s and 90s, the place was taken over by their sons, Idris Choudhary and Ilyas Saji, who continue to run the business since.

What Should One Eat?

One look at the menu and you are bound to go cray-cray. Their mutton kheema pav (₹50) and mutton roast has been an all-time favorite since times immemorial and are must-haves for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, try their Mutton Boti Kebabs, Chicken/Mutton Masala Fry and the Bheja Fry; this trio will blow your mind away. Chicken liver masala fry, tandoori chicken and mutton biryani are among their fastest selling dishes. For dessert, you have to try the evergreen Caramel custard, which is light as a feather. We cannot stress enough on that!

Check out when Glenn McGrath (former Australian fast bowler) visited this restaurant on his India Trip:

A visit to this monumental place is incomplete without a cuppa Irani chai and the iconic bun maska. Sipping on that soulful chai while absorbing the rustic interiors is an experience in itself. We highly recommend it.

This article would be incomplete without mentioning the super attentive and agile staff, who will ensure that the food reaches you quick and piping hot!

This legendary outlet has been serving quality and affordable meals since a century now. Located in the prime space of Colaba, among all the fancy and restaurants, this place still maintains its old-world glory and is a hit among the old-timers and the newer folks alike. In fact, this restaurant is one of the places you must eat, if you’re visiting Mumbai.
