While renting out a vehicle may seem economical, other little things that add up to the total cost of renting. 1. Fuel Charges

Many rental car companies will give you an option to choose between refilling the tank or letting them do it for you at a set price. However, allowing the car companies to refuel can sometimes be more expensive than refilling it yourself.

2. Drop-off Charges

Some car rental companies also apply drop-off fees if you rent a car at one location and drop it ay any other location. The company will charge you for the fuel they spend on getting the car back to the original location.

3. Late Fee

Car rental companies usually charge either by day or week, starting from the time you pick it up. So, if you keep the car past the time, they can potentially charge you for an entire day. You could be charged extra if you return the vehicle after the time it was due to be returned.

4. Mileage
