As a kid, watching horror movies was a terrible experience. Do you remember hiding your face in the pillow? But, now we love the spine-tingling feeling while watching these movies. India’s First-Of-A Kind Horror Film Festival

Horror films have a totally different audience and the Wench Film Festival celebrates that. Started by Sapna Bhavnani — director and producer, it aims to bring female filmmakers into the spotlight and empower them. And this is India’s first-of-a-kind horror/ sci-fi/ fantasy film festival with the inclusion of non-binary filmmakers. 

At its third edition, twenty-three International and Indian films will be screened including Aarti Kadav’s The Astronaut and His Parrot starring Ali Fazal which is a sci-fi feature. And an acclaimed short Lalanna’s Song starring Parvathy Thiruvothu and Rima Kallingal by Megha Ramaswami. 

This festival will be held at Harkat Studio and Ved Factory in Mumbai from 10 March to 20 March 2023. The virtual screening will be from 10th to 20th March 2023 and the physical screening from 17th to 20th March 2023.

What’s In-Store For You? 

The film festival will start on March 17 with the screening of the Spanish film ‘Hucera: The Bone Woman’ directed by Michele Garza Cerver. But the highlight of the festival is the special screening of the film ‘Tumbbad’. Moreover, there will be panel discussions and musical performances. The last film to be screened is ‘The Nightmare’ directed by Alice Wadding. 

Besides these films, the festival will be screening German film ‘Rapture’ directed by Paul Ertl, English film ‘Honeycomb’ directed by Avalon Fast, Biswas Balan’s Malayalam film ‘Kaalirathi’, Alison Peirce’s English film ‘Knit One Stab Two’, Jennifer Handeroff’s English film ‘Wolf Whistle’ , Ariel McLees’ English film ‘Hectic Phase’, Alix Austin’s English film ‘Sucker’, Julia Ciuda’s short film without dialogue ‘Furia’, Glamagh’s English film ‘It Films like ‘Take a Village’. 

The films are divided into three categories based on their screening time. The first one includes films with a run time of more than forty minutes. The second category includes films with a run time of ten to forty minutes. And the third one includes films that have a run time of fewer than ten minutes.
