The Terminal Of Hubballi Airport In Karnataka Is Being Expanded!

According to a Hindustan Times report, Union minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi announced the terminal expansion. He stated that the expansion of the airport terminal would start in January and be completed within the next two years. Additionally, he pointed out that the new terminal will cover 20,000 square metres. In a tweet, he mentioned that he is thankful to the Prime Minister and Civil Aviation Minister to approve this project.

He added that the residents of north Karnataka will gain from this project. Moreover, passengers from North Karnataka will benefit greatly from this. The expansion project is anticipated to begin in January 2024 and should be finished in two years.

In the several educational institutions in Hubballi, there are students from all over the nation. At the moment, flights from the Hubballi airport go to Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru.

These Facilities Will Be Included In The New Airport Terminal

Three aerobridges are among the cutting-edge amenities that the expanded terminal will include. According to a news release from Joshi, the airport would undergo substantial development, including the enlargement of the runway and apron. He highlighted that efforts would be made to increase flight services so that Hubballi could be connected to other destinations.

The current terminal has a floor space of 3,600 square metres and can accommodate 300 people at once. It was completed in December 2017 as part of an airport upgrade project that cost ₹142 crore. Then, a new air traffic control (ATC) tower was built, and the runway was extended from 1,674 to 2,600 metres.

Hubballi Airport currently operates flights linking this location with Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune.

This airport recorded 5,742 aircraft movements in 2022–2023 that carried 3,22,701 passengers.
