The famous laddoo in Hyderabad, weighing 21 kg has been auctioned for a whopping ₹24.60 lakh to a TRS leader. The leader, Laxma Reddy, bought the famed Balapur Bangaru Laddu, which is auctioned annually. Last year, the laddoo was auctioned for an amount of ₹18.90 lakh. The laddoo is not the regular one but has a coating of gold and is auctioned annually on the day of Ganesh Visarjan. The auction takes place in the presence of all devotees who gather for this only.
Famous Laddoo Auctioned On Ganesh Visarjan
Devotees from across the state gather in Hyderbad for the auctioning of this famous laddoo. The entire process takes place on the final day of Ganesh Visarjan. In 2021, the auctioning took place, but in 2020 it was handed over to Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. Due to the pandemic, the auction did not take place.

A Tradition That Is Followed From 1994
The first time, this laddoo was purchased for ₹450 by Kolan Krishna Reddy. Reddy was a native of the Balapur village. The tradition of auctioning the laddoo continued every year. The Balapur laddoo eventually grew in fame, and today, people from far away places gather to watch the auction process. As for the auction amount, it is used for developing the temple and other works in Balapur. It is conducted by the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi. The immersion of the idol of Balapur only takes place after the auctioning is done. Then, the Ganesh idol is taken to Hyderabad’s Hussain Sagar Lake to be immersed.
