IATA Director General Shared The Progress

According to Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, the industry emerged in 2022 in far better shape than it had during the year, as most governments lifted COVID-19 travel restrictions and people made use of the return of their freedom to travel. Despite some governments’ exaggerated responses to China’s reopening, it is anticipated that this momentum will continue in the New Year,

He also expressed his hope that the year 2022 will be remembered as the one in which governments finally put an end to the regulatory chains that had bound their citizens to the earth for so long. He added that governments must learn the lesson that, in today’s interconnected world, travel restrictions and border closures have little effect on containing the spread of infectious diseases. The global economy, which depends on the unhindered movement of people and goods, as well as people’s lives and means of subsistence, are all adversely affected, according to Walsh.
