UAE citizens have something to rejoice about for the Indian government has extended visa on arrival for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals. The extension of the visa came into effect on the 16th of November. The idea behind the extension is to strengthen trade relations between India and the UAE. Besides that, the Indian government also wants to encourage people-to-people contact.
Extension Of Visa On Arrival For UAE Citizens In India
According to the new move, now UAE nationals will get visa on arrival for up to 60 days in one go. The visa that shall be given out will be for double entry and can be used for business, tourism, medical or conference purposes. However, there’s a catch in the whole situation. The visa will only be available at select airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.
There’s more though for the extended visa will only be given out to UAE nationals who have already obtained an e-Visa or a paper visa for India earlier. This applies even if they haven’t visited the country before. However, if you are a first-timer UAE national visiting India for the first time on a visa then you will have to do it from scratch by applying for an e-Visa or a regular visa from the UAE embassy.
“The government of India, with effect from November 16, 2019, has decided to extend the Visa-on-Arrival facility to nationals of the United Arab Emirates. This facility is aimed at further strengthening people to people and trade links as well as strategic ties between the two countries,” the embassy said in a statement.
So, if you have been planning on visiting India for a while now, this is your opportunity to see it with a lot of time in hand. Make the most of it and happy holidays!
