Punjabi Kadhi Pakora is a North Indian comfort food consisting of a thick, tangy and spiced yoghurt and besan gravy with deep-fried pakoras. It is usually paired with rice or paranthas. But a content creator, Rege (@badandbhajiii), recently shared a unique food combo on Instagram and said that his Punjabi family enjoys pouring Punjabi Kadhi over crispy French Fries. Naturally, this left netizens taken aback because this combination sounds a little strange.

According to Rege, his mother apparently came up with this combination in the 1970s after she visited a British fish and chips shop, where French Fries are usually served with a curry sauce. But instead of using the usual curry sauce, his mother used Punjabi Kadhi to pair with the fries. And according to Rege, it tastes super delicious.

Decades-Old Family Tradition

Rege also shared that the Punjabi Kadhi, which is creamy and loaded with pakoras, is usually served with rice on the day it is prepared. But on the second day, they eat it with French Fries. Many of us have grown up eating this fried snack with cheesy dips and ketchup, but this combination has taken the food world by storm.

And honestly, it is not just a random internet trend. It is a decades-old family tradition for Rege. The internet loved the video because it combines Western comfort food with a traditional Indian dish in a unique way. Many foodies even promised to try it out. One user wrote, “This looks absolutely off the chain,” while another said, “This looks amazing.”
