We come bearing some amazing news for Delhi Metro Pink Line commuters! You can now check the crowd levels in each coach on this metro line before boarding and even before the train arrives at the platform. This will allow you to choose a less crowded coach for your journey. Here’s how this new facility works.

New Facility For Delhi Metro Pink Line Commuters

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has extended its real-time coach occupancy display facility to the Pink Line. According to The Indian Express, this facility was earlier available to commuters on the Magenta Line (Line 8). This move will allow Pink Line (Line 7) commuters to check which coaches are less crowded through information screens installed on station platforms. This line connects Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar/Maujpur-Babarpur and sees heavy footfall every day.

Reportedly, the system uses load sensors installed in metro coaches. These sensors intelligently measure the current weight of each coach and compare it with its empty weight. Based on this data, the approximate passenger occupancy percentage of every coach is calculated.

How Can You Check The Crowd Level?

According to The Indian Express, this information is displayed on Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) screens installed on station platforms shortly before the train arrives. With this new facility, Delhi Metro Pink Line commuters will be able to see the occupancy levels of all six coaches.

This will help them choose which coach is more convenient for them to board. The facility is expected to make commuting easier, especially during morning and evening peak hours. Passengers will also have the option to skip a train and wait for another one if all the coaches appear heavily crowded. Authorities also expect this facility to ensure a more balanced distribution of passengers across all coaches and prevent overcrowding.
