Delhiites, especially women keeping the Karwa Chauth fast, may face trouble with the moon sighting in Delhi-NCR due to the weather today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several parts of Delhi, which means rain along with intense thunderstorms is expected during the evening hours. Here’s what you should know.

Delhi Weather Turns Cloudy

According to Hindustan Times, the IMD has issued red and orange alerts for moderate to heavy rain in parts of Delhi on October 29, 2026. Cloudy skies are expected on Karwa Chauth, which means the moon sighting could be affected. A red alert is in place for North Delhi, North West Delhi and South West Delhi. Meanwhile, an orange alert is in place for Central Delhi, North East Delhi and South East Delhi.

These alerts mean there is a possibility of moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hail in parts of Delhi. Some areas could also witness thunderstorms with moderate rainfall. Women keeping the Karwa Chauth fast may have to wait a little longer for the moon to appear before breaking their fast.
