IKEA is not just known for its amazing and aesthetic furniture but also for its food. The brand has especially gained popularity for its iconic Swedish meatballs and hot dogs. You won’t believe that food accounts for 8.5% of IKEA’s global revenue! Keep reading to know the reason behind this.

Food At IKEA Is Winning Hearts Globally

Many people shopping at IKEA are not just interested in its furniture but also in the Swedish meatballs the brand sells. The dish, served with brown gravy, is so delicious that many people specially visit its stores to eat it. In a recent conversation with CNBC-TV18, IKEA India CEO Patrik Antoni shared with Shereen Bhan that food now makes up 8.5% of IKEA’s global revenue. And no, the brand in India does not just sell Swedish delights but also Indian classics.

The CEO shared that apart from meatballs, the brand also offers chicken balls, vegetarian biryani, samosas, vada pav and hot dogs. The IKEA India CEO also shared that the brand is coming up with a number of Swedish desserts. The biryani is sold in Hyderabad, while vada pav is available at the Mumbai outlet of the brand.

Affordable Food & Amazing Taste

The brand actually has different food items for different regions. The best part is that the local food is sold at almost 50% of the price compared to many restaurants. And the taste? It is just as good. CEO Patrik Antoni also shared with CNBC-TV18 that he once tasted vada pav in Pune, liked it and now considers himself a “vada pav person.”

This basically means that not just the meatballs, but the other food items offered by the brand are also getting the same amount of love from foodies. The food also makes customers stay longer, feel full and shop more happily. It is also priced affordably to build trust and attract more customers. In other news, IKEA is all set to open its second city-format store in Delhi-NCR at DLF Avenue, Saket.
