Mumbai-Pune Trains Cancelled After Heavy Rainfall

As per reports by the Times Of India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai with a warning for the next few hours, predicting intense rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.

Heavy rain caused multiple landslides in the Karjat-Lonavala area of the Bhor Ghat section during the early hours of Monday. The Bhor Ghat section includes three railway tracks—the Up line towards Mumbai, the Down line towards Pune and a Middle line, all of which were affected by debris caused by the landslides.

As a result, Central Railway has cancelled, diverted and managed several train services. The cancelled trains include the Deccan Queen Express (22105/22106), Deccan Express (11007/11008), Indrayani Express (22147/22148), Intercity Express (12127/12128), Sinhagad Express (11009/11010) and Pragati Express (12125/12126), along with a number of passenger and express trains operating between Mumbai, Pune and other nearby areas.

Travellers have been urged to check the latest train status before travelling, as maintenance work is underway in the affected ghat section.

Mumbai Local Trains Continue To Run With Minor Delays

Despite the interruption on the Mumbai-Pune route, suburban train services still remained operational across the city on Monday morning. With main lines like the Western and the Central lines running just 6-10 minutes behind the schedule. The Harbour Line is facing minor delays of approximately 4-10 minutes. And the Trans-Harbour Line and Uran-Belapur Line are operational as per the schedule. Although commuters may experience delays on waterlogging-prone stretches due to ongoing rainfall.

With more rain forecast through the day, railway authorities have advised passengers to monitor official updates before commencing their journey, as weather conditions may lead to further delays.
