No Birkin, Just Bhindi? Mumbai’s Sabzi Mandi Gets An Unexpected Fashion Week Moment!

Who said fashion accessories have to be expensive? A group of young models in Mumbai’s Vasai decided to give the usual runway a desi twist by taking their fashion walk to a sabzi mandi! And instead of designer bags and statement jewellery, they had coriander, tomatoes and radishes to complete their looks.

Coriander & Radishes Take Over Mumbai’s Sabzi Mandi Fashion Show

Videos of the unusual fashion walk have been doing the rounds on social media, with the bustling sabzi mandi in Mumbai’s Vasai turning into an unexpected runway. The youngsters were seen walking through the narrow market lanes in stylish outfits, carrying everyday vegetables as accessories.

What caught everyone’s attention was how creatively the participants incorporated vegetables into their looks. While one model was seen carrying a bunch of fresh coriander leaves as an accessory, others used vegetables such as radishes and tomatoes to add an unusual touch to their outfits.

The idea was simple but certainly different. Who needs an expensive handbag when a bunch of coriander can make a statement? The everyday vegetables, usually found in shopping bags and kitchen baskets, became conversation starters as the youngsters confidently walked through the market.

The fashion walk also brought an interesting twist to the usual idea of a ramp, with the market’s narrow lanes serving as the runway. Local shoppers and vendors got an unexpected fashion show right in the middle of their daily routine.

Social Media Users React To The Unusual Runway Moment

The video has caught the attention of social media users, many of whom have praised the youngsters for their creativity. One user called it a “Vasai sabji mandi fashion show”, while another joked, “Kapdo k sath muli free.”

According to The Free Press Journal, the fashion walk was titled Vision Vogue Fashion Week. Sahil Singh, a mentor and fashion model associated with the event, shared that the concept drew inspiration from Vogue. Sahil Singh is also the founder of Vision Vogue Academy, with Rohit Chaudhary as its co-founder.

While fashion shows are usually associated with elaborate sets, designer outfits and expensive accessories, this one took a rather different route. By bringing fashion to a neighbourhood vegetable market and using everyday produce as accessories, the youngsters managed to turn an ordinary shopping destination into an unusual runway.
