The travel industry and travellers’ choices have been witnessing a drastic shift for years now. As more and more globetrotters are getting ready to explore new destinations and horizons, many travellers’ focus is shifting to prioritising their positive impacts on nature while enjoying holidays. Gladly, a huge number of tourists are caring about sustainable travel and the fascinating fact is that most Indians care about this aspect.

We have slowly changed our travel preferences over the years and the recent travel trends perfectly represent the drastic changes in choices in the past and present times. A recently released survey by Agoda shared about Indian travellers and how they perceive the concept of sustainable travel. Without a doubt, the idea of responsible travel is trending globally and everyone is talking about it. But do travellers actually make the correct choices to make a difference in their impact on nature?

87 per cent of Indian travellers are focused on sustainable travel, according to the survey released by Agoda. Several factors can help people to care more about this concept of travelling and nature. As shared by respondents, some of the practices to focus well are financial incentives, proper guidance, and the availability of sustainable travel packages. All these steps are likely to make travellers aware of sustainable travel and help in making the correct choices.

Indian tourists have a few preferences to prioritise sustainable travel and the practices are:

  • The topmost choices are supporting local communities and conservation projects. 29 per cent of respondents chose these as the leading preference.
  • Interestingly, about 26 per cent of the participants all over Asia selected this specific option.

What Are Foreign Travellers’ Opinions?

The survey has been conducted with respondents from 10 markets around Asia. Over 10,000 respondents participated in it. Here are some revelations of the study:

  • About 8 in 10 tourists are interested in making sustainable travel choices.
  •  18 per cent expressed how they will take steps to explore places sustainably, according to the Press Release.
  • About 22 per cent of the respondents are not that focused on following sustainability while exploring.
  • Japanese travellers are actually the lease least concerned.
