According to an article which was recently published by India Times, the gin was showcased at the London Wine Fair that took place on Tuesday, May 21. This is the first time that a spirit from the Northeastern parts of India has won big at an international event.

This further cements Northeast India’s position in the global spirits market. Right from the bottle down to its ingredients and taste, every part of the gin is meticulously crafted to root its design and aesthetic to Meghalaya.

The bottle is a beautifully designed steel one featuring endemic red pandas, a Mandarin picker, bamboo forests, a Bedford bus from the colonial era and much more. The bottle is designed by a native of Shillong who is based in Portland, Rishidev RK.

It won the crown by outshining a whopping 110 brands from 55 countries. The CEO of Cherrapunji Gin worked with a Dutch distiller to refine and perfect the spirit further. As of now, Meghalaya, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. It will soon spread to Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Goa as well.
