The Merchant House, Bahrain’s first boutique hotel bagged a five-star rating at the Leaders in Hospitality Awards. The boutique hotel grabbed the top spot in an enviable line-up of properties including The Chedi Muscat, Atana Musandam Resort, Mysk Al Mouj by Shaza hotel Muscat and Shada Executive hotel Jeddah.
The announcement was made at the fifth annual Leaders In Hospitality Award ceremony on April 25, where some of the region’s most prestigious hospitality honours were presented. And now, the hotel is hosting a grand Iftar, inspired by Executive Chef Robert Shipman. The diverse set menu aims to delight and surprise guests at every step of this experience.
For starters, the table has a combination of small dishes including hummus, labneh with zatar, and delicious muhammara,- to name a few. One of the signature dishes of the Iftar is the braised lamb shank. The dish is cooked for 18 hours to perfect the taste, satiating Ramadan cravings.
And if you fancy something that tastes straight out of your mother’s kitchen, try the roast chicken. Cooked in a signature in-house masala, this is sure to leave a burst of flavours in your mouth. Once you’re done savouring the main course, head to the mini-buffet of pastries. Chef Robert’s culinary journey reflects perfectly in his delectable selection of sweet and savoury pastries, inspired by Greece, the Middle East and parts of Morocco. The moist and creamy semolina cake is an instant hit!

The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, on its beautifully landscaped garden terrace, alongside the sparkling pool. As for the amenities, the hotel features 46 suites, each with an open kitchen, dining and sitting area designed for both business and leisure. As for the interiors, you are welcomed by a splash of colours, once you step in. The aesthetics are strikingly classy and the walls are drenched with contemporary artwork by well-established Bahraini and international artists.
