If you want to book train tickets through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), then here’s something you must know. After all, IRCTC may ban you from tickets online if you don’t abide by the new booking guidelines. It’s now compulsory for passengers to verify their email IDs and phone numbers in order to be able to book train tickets through the IRCTC website or app. Read on to know the entire process.

Guide To Get Email ID & Phone Number Verified By IRCTC

Firstly, log in to the IRCTC app or website. Next, click on the verification window and type in the registered email ID and mobile number. Navigate the verification option on the right side and click on the edit button on the left. If you need to make changes click on the edit button. Otherwise directly go for verification. Enter the OTP that you will receive on your registered mobile number. And finally, use the same process to verify your email id.

Guide To Book Train Tickets Post Verification

After you’re done verifying your email ID and contact number, head to the IRCTC portal or app. Next, enter the username, password and other credentials. Enter the details of your train journey like date, destination source station etc. Select the train and click Book Now. Just like usual, enter passenger details and berth preference. Finally, choose the mode of payment and end finish the transaction. While it would take you a few extra steps than usual, it’s nevertheless mandatory to verify your email ID and contact number. After all, IRCTC will ban you from booking tickets if you don’t do this.
