To better the food ordering system on trains, IRCTC shared a few to-dos that passengers could follow to make the process hassle-free. In a tweet, IRCTC shared that the new updates will ensure that passengers can travel more delightfully. In addition, they are upgrading the catering and hospitality services on trains to better train travel. They are also taking all the essential steps necessary to improve train catering services.

The video has asked passengers to follow specific steps that will allow passengers not to pay extra for any food items or water. They will also ensure that the proper food rates are displayed for the passengers. However, food rate stickers have been pasted on a few trains. IRCTC also requested the passengers to pay the rates displayed on the products and not pay extra.

Handheld POS (Point To Sale) Machines To Issue Bills

For better feasibility, IRCTC has also introduced POS handheld machines, which will help passengers to get the bills on their seats. This will also ensure that the train passengers are not overcharged for their food purchases. Passengers can make payments on POS machines using their debit/credit cards.

In addition, IRCTC also requested passengers to purchase food items from authorised pantry car vendors only.

Where To Lodge Food Complaints

In case of any faults or complaints that passengers wish to report, passengers can ask for the complaint book from the train vendors. Passengers can register their complaints as well as suggestions in the book. Apart from that, in case passengers are unable to access the book, complaints can also be noted on the toll-free number – 1800-111-139 or www.railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in.

E-Catering Introduced By IRCTC

This service introduced by the IRCTC will help passengers order their choice of food from IRCTC’s partnered food outlets and eateries. This is an internet-based service and can be used from a mobile application. In addition, the E-Catering Website – www.ecatering.irctc.co.in and the Food-On-Track App will allow passengers to order their choice of food.
