It is important to make people aware of road safety. For this reason, every year from January 11–17, National Road Safety Week is observed. The week is organised by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India. Here is all you need to know about National Road Safety Week 2023.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways established the inaugural National Road Safety Week, which was observed in 1989. This year, National Road Safety Week is celebrating its 34th year. The goal of this week is to encourage people to practise safe driving habits. The importance of prioritising your safety, irrespective of the transportation vehicle being used, The theme for National Road Safety Week 2023 is “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha.”

The campaign will highlight numerous actions that people should take to adhere to the government’s safety laws. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India pushes the regional governments to take the lead on efforts for Road Safety Week. The ministry also provides the regional governments with a list of ideas for enhancing road safety in their areas. Each state receives funding from the Ministry to assist in organising these activities and involving the general public.

Educating People Through Workshops And Activities

This will include educating drivers about road safety through workshops, seminars, and free fatigue assessments for truck drivers. To commemorate this week, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has asked the government to hold a “Road Safety Walk.” Schools, colleges, and important stakeholder groups like local transport departments and traffic police will also be a part of these walks.

Additionally, nationwide campaigns will be held to promote compliance with traffic laws and regulations, pedestrian safety, driver eye checkup clinics, and other road engineering-related efforts. At various sites throughout the capital, the ministry will carry out a number of activities, such as street shows and sensitization campaigns. There are also various slogans and quotes for National Road Safety Week 2023. Contests like post your selfies while wearing seat belt are also being run on Twitter.
