Kashmir To Launch New Tourist Villages Near Dal Lake

A new project under the Tourist Villages Development programme will build 5 new tourist villages near Kashmir’s iconic Dal Lake. Tourists can choose to stay in homestay facilities in the new tourist villages. Kachri Mohalla, Sofi Mohalla, Tinda Mohallah, Akhoon Mohalla will be the new villages that tourists can explore when they head to Dal Lake. A bustling vegetable market selling fresh local produce will also be built near Dal Lake to attract tourists.

Boost In Tourism & Employment

Kashmir is slowly turning into a paradise for tourists. In November 2021, the Union Territory recorded the highest tourist footfall in the past 7 years with hotels in Gulmarg fully booked. IRCTC has also launched new travel packages to Kashmir where tourists can explore the snowcapped mountains, frozen lakes, tulip gardens, Mughal gardens and more. With the establishment of the new tourist villages near Dal Lake, the youth of Kashmir will also gain employment.
