Kerala Student Creates Masks With Mics To Make Voices Audible From Behind The Mask

Masks are a staple for everyone in the world. We already know that don’t we? But while many struggle to wear their masks properly, others find it inconvenient to speak. Yes, a good mask may protect you from airborne coronavirus, but will it still make you audible to those you interact with? One innovative guy, Kevin Jacob, decided to address this concern. How he did, is the story we are sharing with you all today! Read on to know more.

Kevin Jacob From Kerala Invents Mask With Mic

A first-year B-Tech student from Thrissur Government Engineering College, Kevin Jacob, has innovated a gadget that is useful for the healthcare staff and also for normal people. Kevin Jacob, who is the son of a doctor, has designed a mask with a mic and a speaker. He got the idea for this invention after observing his parents struggle with communicating properly with their patients. Speaking to ANI, Kevin said, “My parents are doctors and since the beginning of the pandemic, they have been struggling to communicate with their patients.” He further added that they found it tough to communicate clearly through multiple layers of masks and a face shield. That’s when he got the idea to invent a mask with a mic.

Masks With Mic To Help Doctors Communicate Easily With Patients

Kevin first tested out the prototype with his parents- Dr Senoj KC and Dr Jyoti Mary Jose. Once they were happy with the results, Kevin started producing the product in larger quantities as demand increased as well. A little bit about the device, it can be used continuously for four to six hours after charging it for thirty minutes. That is more than what most cellphones perform now! If you are wondering how is the mic attached to the mask, the answer is a magnet. Speaking further about the response from other doctors, Kevin mentioned that other doctors do not have any strain to communicate with their patients. He also mentioned that the overall feedback is positive.
