Kochi Metro Installs Breastfeeding Cabins

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has collaborated with a health start-up and a private hospital to install breastfeeding cabins at their stations. 

What Is It?

To give nursing mothers a private area to feed their babies, KMRL has inaugurated the first breastfeeding cabin at Aluva train station. They plan to install 3 more cabins Edappally, MG Road and Lissie stations within this month. The managing director of KMRL said that this project was taken to provide safer and hygienic places for women to feed their babies.

About The Cabins

A heath start-up ‘I love 9 Months’ has installed a 4ft x 4ft cabin at Aluva station currently. The cabin contains a comfortable seat, changing table, adequate lighting, hand sanitizer, and charging ports. 

I Love 9 Months is also planning to collaborate with various stations across India to install breastfeeding cabins so after the next few are installed in Kochi, they will be expanding their base.
