Maharashtrians, Keep Your Jackets & Sweaters Ready As IMD Issues Cold Wave Warning

Did you too experience the drop in temperature and chilled waves of air around you on Sunday? That was because the temperature in Mumbai dropped to 19 degrees Celsius. Even though the winter season in the country has begun, the temperature remains between an average of 24 and 30 degrees Celsius. A cold wave is expected in the upcoming days in some parts of Maharashtra, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Maharashtra Gets Cold Wave Warning

The humidity level on Sunday dropped to 47 per cent. This increased the dryness of the weather. Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra have been issued a cold wave warning by the IMD. KS Hosailkar, an IMD official, said that looking at the current weather scenario, some parts of north, northwest, and central India might experience a temperature drop of 10 degrees Celsius.

The temperature might go below 10 degrees Celsius in some parts of Maharashtra, like Nandurbar, Pune, Jalgaon, and Nashik. Ahmednagar, Nashik, Aurangabad, Dhule, Jalna, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar are the districts in Maharashtra that are issuing a cold wave warning.

Sunday Recorded The Lowest Temperatures- IMD

On Sunday, Maharashtra‘s Jalgaon recorded a temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius. Other parts like Aurangabad, Pune, and Nashik recorded 9.2, 9.7, and 9.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. These were the lowest temperatures recorded on Sunday. A temperature of 19.8 degrees Celsius was recorded by Mumbai’s Santacruz Observatory. As per IMD’s forecast, the temperature in Mumbai for the next two days will range between 20 and 33 degrees Celsius.

The humidity in Mumbai dropped to 47 per cent in Santacruz and 60 per cent in Colaba. The air quality index (AQI) of Mumbai was 133, falling under the moderate category. Delhi’s AQI was at 203, which indicated very poor air quality in the country’s capital.
