Visit Maldives has teamed up with the country’s ministry of tourism to launch the “I’m Vaccinated” campaign. Through the campaign, the nation aims to vaccinate its tourism workforce. At present, 65 per cent of people eligible in the Maldives have received a jab. And 90 per cent of those eligible in the tourism industry have received their doses. And all vaccinated members of the tourism industry will also wear a dedicated I’m Vaccinated badge.

The Maldives’s Minister of Tourism Abdulla Mausoom announced that they will start vaccinating tourists in the future. They aim to attract more tourists and fulfil their 1.5 million arrival goals in 2021. He mentioned that the Maldives would implement a “3V Program”, which is “Visit, Vaccinate, and Vacation”. He further added that 90 per cent of tourism frontline workers have received their first dose and once everyone is vaccinated, then the country will start their vaccination program.

Till now, nearly 51.5 per cent of residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine while 4.8 per cent have been completely vaccinated.”The main idea of tourism being open is to provide reasonably safe tourism [experience] with minimum inconvenience. So once the country gets vaccinated, then we will move on to ‘3V’ tourism,” Mausoom said. Currently, nearly 3,50,000 tourists have visited the Maldives, and most of them have been from India.
