Etihad To Operate 300+ Daily Flights As Summer Travel Demand Soars

Etihad Airways is heading into what looks set to be its biggest summer season so far, with the airline planning to operate more than 300 flights every day as travel demand keeps climbing across its network.

Etihad Gears Up For Its Busiest Summer Yet With Over 300 Flights A Day

For travellers flying to, from or through Abu Dhabi, that means more options, more destinations and a busier airport than ever. The airline says demand has remained strong across major markets in Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and the Middle East, with aircraft filling up at an impressive rate.

Passenger occupancy is now nearing 90%, showing just how strong the appetite for travel remains this summer. Over just four days in June, Etihad added four new destinations to its network.

More Places To Choose From This Summer

Passengers can now fly directly between Abu Dhabi and Kraków, Palma de Mallorca, Damascus and Zanzibar. Each route brings something different. Kraków offers access to one of Poland’s best-known cities, while Palma de Mallorca gives travellers a direct connection to a popular Mediterranean island. Damascus strengthens regional connectivity and Zanzibar opens up another option for those looking towards the Indian Ocean.

It’s a busy expansion schedule. And it comes at a time when airlines across the region are competing to attract growing numbers of leisure travellers.

Holiday Favourites Are Making A Comeback

Alongside the new destinations, Etihad is also bringing back several seasonal routes that tend to be popular during the warmer months.

Flights to Mykonos resumed on June 15. Málaga returned the same day with up to four weekly services. Santorini follows from June 16, while Nice returns from June 19. Egyptian coastal destination Al Alamein is set to rejoin the network from July 16.

For many travellers, these routes are among the most anticipated summer options. They offer easy access to beaches, islands and city breaks without lengthy connections.

Together, the new launches and returning services make up the airline’s largest summer schedule to date.

More Aircraft, More Capacity

Behind the scenes, Etihad has been growing its fleet to keep up with demand.

The airline says it now has 23 more aircraft compared with the same period last year. That expansion has helped increase overall capacity by 10% year on year and allowed the carrier to add frequencies across several routes.

Etihad Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves said to Gulf News that the airline is serving more destinations and operating more flights than ever before as demand continues to grow.
