BEST Bus Conductor Saves Life By Giving CPR To A 62-YO Passenger

On Sunday, December 10, a 62-year-old passenger experiencing a heart attack was saved by a heroic conductor aboard Mumbai’s BEST (Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport) bus. While the bus on route 453 was travelling from the Ghatkopar depot to Lokmanya Nagar in Thane, the elderly passenger had passed out. The event took place in the afternoon.

A passenger named Rohidas Pawar suffered a heart attack and passed out inside the bus at 2:20 pm, close to Mulund Check Naka. Arjun Pandurang Lad, the bus conductor, came to his aid promptly, performing CPR on the elderly man before rushing him to ESIS Hospital Thane for more care.

According to the official, the man’s life was saved and his condition is stable now, thanks to the timely intervention. Passengers and officials praised Lad’s prompt decision-making as the conductor, emphasising the value of such abilities in managing crises on public transportation.

Further, the BEST intends to thank the conductor for his foresight and life-saving deed. According to the source, several conductors have received training on CPR and how to handle such circumstances while on the bus. In Bengaluru, a bus conductor saved 30 people on board a BMTC bus. The bus was rear-ended by a car which resulted in both the vehicles catching fire. Around 9:00 am, the bus pulled up next to a park in Chandra Layout as it was a designated stop. That’s when a couple and their small daughter in a speeding automobile rear-ended it.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the crew, 30 passengers were saved! According to the bus driver, he sensed that a vehicle had rammed the bus from behind and immediately got off. The car’s bonnet was stuck under the bus. They helped everyone get off the bus, though some of them suffered minor injuries.

But soon after there was a fuel spill, the entire car was engulfed in flames, and the fire quickly spread to the bus. They had to stop the fire spreading to the bus and the only way was to detach the car. A manager arrived at the scene of the collision and suggested taking the bus over the median in the hopes that it would assist in separating the two cars.

Much to their surprise, the plan worked and they tried to douse the fire with a fire extinguisher.
