A Sunday brunch, a rather interesting food spread and some candid family revelations! On Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani, Radhika Apte and Keerthy Suresh joined Kamiya for a meal at Chef Rajji’s Supper Club Mumbai. And oh my my, the three tucked into a spread of coastal and South Indian favourites, including coconut chutney, yam sukka, vade, donne biryani, neer dosa and gassi, among other dishes.

Radhika Apte Reveals Her Mother’s Reaction To Her Acting Career

Known for its intimate dining experience and regional flavours, the supper club made for a lovely backdrop for the conversation. While the food certainly had its moment, Radhika Apte also got candid about her decision to become an actor and revealed what her parents really thought about her career choice. And her father’s prediction about the profession? Well, she reluctantly agrees he got it right!

When the conversation turned to her acting journey, Radhika spoke about how her parents reacted to her decision to enter the film industry. Contrary to what one might expect, her mother was never unhappy about her choosing acting. In fact, she was extremely supportive.  There was a rather personal reason behind this, too. Radhika Apte revealed that her mother had once dreamt of becoming an actor herself but could not pursue it because of the circumstances life presented her with.

In a way, Radhika Apte was getting to live a dream her mother had once held close. Having her support must have made the decision a little easier, especially when stepping into an industry as unpredictable as entertainment.

Why Radhika Apte’s Father Thought Acting Could Be Depressing

Her father, on the other hand, had a slightly different take. He was supportive of her choice but believed that an actor’s life could be quite depressing. It was not the profession’s glamour that concerned him, but perhaps everything that came with it; the uncertainty, the emotional demands and the constant ups and downs that actors experience.

Radhika Apte recalled this with a laugh and made an admission that was perhaps the most amusing part of the conversation. She said she hated to admit it, but her father was right!

And honestly, that is quite a telling observation. From the outside, acting can look like a dream job, complete with film sets, premieres and applause. But the reality can involve rejection, long periods of uncertainty and the pressure of constantly putting yourself out there. Radhika’s candid response offered a glimpse into that side of the profession without turning the conversation into a serious industry discussion.

Between conversations about family, career choices and the food on the table, this Sunday Brunch outing offered a little more than the usual celebrity catch-up. After all, sometimes the most interesting stories over brunch have very little to do with what’s on the plate!
