A life-size statue dedicated to the Master Blaster will be installed at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. The Maharashtrian played his last game for India here in 2013 when he retired from cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar To Get Life-Size Statue At Wankhede Stadium
According to a report by The Indian Express, Sachin Tendulkar’s life-size statue will be unveiled at the Wankhede Stadium either on his 50th birthday on April 30 or during World Cup to be played later this year. Wankhede Stadium has a special place in the heart of Sachin Tendulkar. After all, this is the very stadium where he played his first and last match, taking retirement from his illustrious career, ten years ago.

Amol Kale, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) revealed that Sachin Tendulkar gave his consent to install the first-ever statue inside the coveted Wankhede Stadium. Kale further revealed to The Indian Express that they shall decide where to place the life-size statue of the cricketer. Also, the President of MCA stated that this will be their small token of appreciation to the legendary cricketer.

Master Blaster Says It’s A “Pleasant Surprise”
He acknowledged that Sachin Tendulkar is a Bharat Ratna and everyone across India and the world knows about his contributions to the world of cricket. So, this is a small token of appreciation to him as he turns 50 this year. In an interview with ANI, Sachin Tendulkar called this news a “pleasant surprise”. He revealed that life has come a big circle as his career started in Wankhede stadium. He said that he has many memorable moments playing here including the moment of his life when India won the 2011 World Cup.
