Neeraj Chopra Revealed His Favourite Travel Destinations And His Fondest Memories

Every time a sportsperson triumphs in a world championship, his entire nation is honoured. Being an Olympian is a great deal, and taking home a gold medal at these prestigious competitions is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience. Not only does it make the athletes happy and famous, but it also benefits the nation they represent. One such outstanding athlete who has done India much honour is the ‘golden boy,’ Neeraj Chopra. As soon as he won the gold medal in the javelin throw event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, he became famous.  Recently, he joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, on one of our Sunday Brunch episodes, and it was an honour to have him join us for a meal and a stimulating conversation.

Neeraj Chopra Talked About His Favourite Destinations

Neeraj talked about his unique experience of taking a flight for the first time. His first time on a plane was in 2013 when he travelled to Ukraine for the World Youth Championship. He and his companion were glued to the window, watching the clouds below them the entire time. They still remember the journey on the flight more than the trip because of the thunder and lightning that occurred during it.

Be it for tournaments or for fun, he has been to a lot of places now. And we wanted to know which one of those destinations was his favourite. He shared that he once went to Monaco for a tournament and loved it. He also enjoyed visiting Switzerland last year for another championship. It was one of his favourite trips because he won a trophy in front of his family members. In India. Himachal Pradesh is his go-to destination because he loves being in the midst of hills and greenery.

When we asked Neeraj Chopra about his first-ever salary, he revealed that he had won the gold medal in a junior-level national competition in 2014. He received 2L, which was his first payment, for that victory. He continued by saying that it was a significant occasion for him and his family. What did he do with such a substantial sum? He shared that he had purchased many things for himself, including sneakers, a javelin, and other items. He admitted that at first, he had not paid much attention to the finances.

He revealed that he now relies on his family to manage his money. He usually only keeps what is necessary. He does, however, enjoy splurging because he simply loves limited-edition shoes and is a sneakerhead. He certainly enjoys having them in his collection, even though he does not get to wear them as frequently.
