A new road that links two major highways in Dubai, will be opened end of June this year. The project will also improve access between Dubai and Sharjah.

What’s It?

The Dubai RTA recently announced that over 90% of the Tripoli Street Improvement Project has been completed. The 12-km stretch links Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road and is expected to open this June. The project will improve access between Dubai and Sharjah and also streamline access to Warqaa and Mirdif districts.

The project will increase the traffic flow to about 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions (6000 vehicles per hour per direction) and reduce the traffic volumes by 30%. Upon completion, the project will act as a parallel to Al Amardi-Al Khawaneej as well as Al Awir – Ras Al Khor traffic corridors.

The project also included the construction of a 5.3 km-long street of three lanes, from Tripoli-Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Streets up to Emirates Road.
