What Is It?
Internet handling fees is a real charge that pops up whenever you book movie tickets online. It is actually exploitation of customers perpetuated my leading chains like BookMyShow and PVR Cinemas.
The corruptive action was highlighted when an RTI was filed by the President of Forum Against Corruption, Vijay Gopal. No authority has the right to charge customers this extra fee. In fact, this amount is what the company itself is liable to pay as per the bank’s Merchant Discount Rate regulations.
What’s More?
According to Vijay Gopal, online ticket vendors are not the only culprits but food delivery and cab service companies are also to be blamed.
A case has also been registered against BookMyShow and PVR the hearing for which was earlier scheduled on 23rd March 2019 in Hyderabad but has now been postponed to the 29th March 2019.
The outcome remains to be seen.
