Now You Can Trek, Spot Birds At Sindhudurg’s Dhamapur Lake With Eco Treks’ Nature Walks

One of the largest lakes in the Sindhudurg district is Dhamapur Lake. With its crystal-clear waters, surrounding hills, and vibrant flora, Dhamapur Lake offers an enchanting escape. The Dhamapur Lake is located about 50 miles from Patradevi in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. Now, a Goa-based trekking company is offering treks and walks around the lake.

Dhamapur Lake, A Serene Oasis

The locals and Nagesh Desai, the Mandlik of the Vijaynagar dynasty, built the earth-fill Dhamapur Dam in 1530. One of the largest lakes in the Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra is the one behind the dam. All year long, the lake is filled with water and receives water deliveries. One of the most captivating aspects of Dhamapur Lake is its pristine surroundings. The emerald greenery that encompasses the lake creates a surreal landscape, inviting visitors to unwind and connect with nature. The gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping of birds enhance the overall tranquillity of the area.

This lake is highly recognised for its transparent, immaculate waters. Its location is perfect for both water sports and trips. The lake is surrounded by gorgeous, scenic hill ranges on two sides. It’s a great place to see birds. You might even be fortunate enough to see a few of Malabar pied hornbills. It also boasts some breathtakingly ancient ficus trees.

Now, Eco Treks, a Goa-based adventure trekking organization is offering adventure activities including a forest walk, history walk, poy boating (boating in a farm canal), and a visit to a nearby nursery and eco store.

Treks, Walks & More

The University of Life, a local non-profit, is assisting Eco Treks with this journey. The University of Life’s committed volunteers will lead the hikers and share information about the lake’s unique biodiversity, history, and legacy. Additionally, the lake is spared from concretisation thanks to the activities of this NGO. The local community plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance around Dhamapur Lake.

The biodiversity around Dhamapur Lake adds another layer to its charm. The lake supports various species of fish, and birdwatchers are in for a treat as the area is home to numerous avian species. For those interested in the cultural heritage of the area, Dhamapur Lake offers a glimpse into the historical roots of Sindhudurg. Exploring these historical elements provides visitors with a deeper understanding of the region’s rich past.

Dhamapur Lake offers a diverse range of experiences. And trekking here will open to a diverse range of options. Would you go here?
