The renowned sand artist from Odisha, Sudarsan Pattnaik has often won hearts with his mesmerising sand sculptures. In the recent past, he paid tribute to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and Disco King, composer-singer, Bappi Lahiri with his stunning sand art pieces. And now, on the blessed occasion of Mahashivratri, Sudarsan Pattnaik created a larger-than-life Lord Shiva sculpture using over 23,000 rudraksha beads.
Odisha Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates Lord Shiva Sculpture
On March 1, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, Odisha sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik erected a whopping 9-ft high and 18-ft wide Lord Shiva sculpture. The celebrated sand artist used 12 tonnes of sand to complete his artwork in 6 hours. The highlight of this art piece is the 23,436 rudraksha beads used for the first time for his sand installation. The art piece shows the bust of a meditating Lord Shiva, with a snake adorning his neck, his Trishul by his side and a Shivlinga in front of him.

The Sculpture Comes With Message To Promote Peace
A message “We Pray for Peace” is sculpted near the Lord Shiva sculpture. In a statement given by Sudarsan Pattnaik earlier, he had said that We pray to Lord Shiva for global peace,” amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The use of rudraksha beads is a wonderful tribute to Lord Shiva. The sculpture captivates you with its uniqueness. Sudarshan earlier also used vegetables and red roses to give the extra spark to his sand artworks.
