The year is just about to end, and a new strain of Covid-19 virus has been found in the UK. Now to curb the mutation of the new strain, 30 countries have banned their flights to and from the UK. Oman and Saudi Arabia have shut their borders for a week to control the spread of the virus. Besides this, India has also suspended UK-India flight from yesterday, December 23. And now as per the latest development, a report in Khaleej Times states, Indian passengers from the UK transiting via the UAE, will not be allowed to enter India. Emirates And Etihad Airlines Update Their Passengers About The New Protocols

Till December 31, all passengers travelling or transiting through the UK cannot enter India amid the scare of the new covid-19 strain. UAE’s leading carriers Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines have informed their transit passengers that they cannot fly to India from the UAE.

A spokesperson from Etihad Airways in a statement to a leading daily said,

“Several countries have banned flights from the UK after the country has reported a new variant of the Covid-19 virus. India-bound passengers from the UK are not allowed to board the flights as Indian has imposed restrictions on flights from the UK.”

On the same lines, Emirates airlines said,

“Effective December 23 and until December 31, passengers originating in or transiting through the United Kingdom, including those who land in Dubai bound for India will not be permitted entry to India.”

India-UK Flights Stand Cancelled Till December 31 To Curb The Current Situation

The situation in the UK is worsening at the moment. India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced the suspension of all flights originating from the UK until December 31. The suspension of UK-India flight officially started from December 23.

Air India is offering affected passengers a one-time free reschedule option that can be completed anytime before December 31. This option can also be used by passengers from the UK.
